CLIENT HISTORY
Bartons Sound Systems initial contract at the Auckland International Airport started in 1997 with the Terminal Expansion Stage II. This included a new check-in counter building on the Eastern part of the Jean Batten International Terminal. This work also included the addition of a new PA control System, an Altec Lansing AMSYS. Since then new areas have been added and other areas refurbished. Most of the PA equipment is now Bosch and this includes, since 2006, combined PA Evacuation (EWS) systems. Due to our high quality PA designs and construction standards, Bartons Sound Systems are the preferred contractor for PA equipment installation and maintenance at Auckland International Airport and we hope this continues.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Bartons were contracted to deliver a Public Address System that integrated with the international terminals EWS system for the International Terminal Retail Expansion Phase 3 project. This transformational project almost doubled the size of the international terminal departure processing zone, and passenger lounge and retail hub areas. It also included work to reconfigure the landside farewell area, build a new and expanded security screening and processing area, and a new passenger lounge and duty free shopping hub.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
This project was completed in a live airport environment – meaning the current system needed to stay active throughout, whilst the combined EWS systems Announcement and Evacuation messages were required to be made to a complex multi zone environment.
RESOLUTION
Bosch Praesideo and JBL Intellivox powered adjustable column speakers were used to deliver highly intelligible announcements to large passenger numbers in difficult acoustic spaces.
